Thanks, Twitter

In this day and age, social media is kind of like magic. Growing up in the early 2000’s I never really took an interest in any sort of current events happening around the world or locally. That really changed with the development of technology. Now with social media, most of what’s happening in the world can be seen through your phone.

With such compact yet powerful devices, citizen journalism has really taken off and because of it, there are more people interacting and exchanging information with each other. Twitter for example uses Retweets to spread someone’s tweet to their followers. As someone who has very little interest in politics, somehow I’m still able to keep up with the latest information without going out of my way to read the daily mail. I have no interest in keeping up with Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton but I still see and take in that information.

  1. Haha, I feel exactly the same! Despite having an obvious political bias, I follow ‘The Simpsons against the liberals’ on facebook because it’s hilarious and still manages to covney the current going-ons quite well.

That and Friendlyjordies on YouTube who I’m ashamed I didn’t know of before recently. Basically a slightly saner Filthy Frank with unbelievable amounts of research put into his hilarious videos:
